Touchscreen laptops have been around for some time now, but they still are very popular in the mobile market. Of course, the advent of tablets
this year will probably attract a lot of customers toward them, but
yet, those preferring laptops will definitely consider the more advanced
touchscreen laptops. Dell is known to be in the forefront of laptop
manufacturers (in fact, I myself own one Dell!). Here, we take a look at
some of the most popular touchscreen Dell laptops and also compare their pricing.
Dell Studio 17 Touchscreen Laptop
The Dell Studio 17 comes with the latest Intel Core i7 processor.
Powerful and with a host of features, it packs a punch. Its features
include 17.3” high-definition display with multi-touch support for
gesture control, genuine Windows 7 Home Premium, 1GB ATI Radeon
Graphics, JBL speakers, optional Blu-Ray disk drive, camera, Bluetooth
and Dell Wireless Half Minicard.
This touchscreen laptop from Dell also includes 4GB DDR3 RAM, 250GB
SATA hard disk, 8X Slot Load CD/DVD Burner, High Definition Audio 2.0
and a 9-cell lithium ion battery.
The price of this powerful beauty is approximately $1199.00 in the US, which works out to about £799.00 in the UK.
Dell Latitude XT2 Touchscreen Laptop
The Dell Latitude XT2 is the company’s very first attempt at creating
a tablet PC with multi-touch-support. This 12.1” laptop can be
controlled with finger gestures such as a tap for scrolling, pinching,
panning, rotating and even zooming. The WXGA display is very sensitive
to touch and the dual digitizer enables the user to achieve a high
degree of accuracy while using the touchscreen. This laptop also has an
LCD-based wireless antenna, which gives great connectivity.
This laptop is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and is
pre-loaded with genuine Windows Professional. It supports up to 5GB DDR3
SDRAM, up to 250GB hard drive and an Intel Integrated Graphics Media
Accelerator too.
Other features include 8X DVD-ROM, 24X CDRW/DVD, wireless LAN, Dell Wireless Mobile Broadband Minicard and support for Ethernet.
This laptop starts at $2364.00.
Dell E6400 XFR Rugged Touchscreen Laptop
The Dell E6400 XFR touchscreen laptop is the company’s first venture
at manufacturing a completely rugged and waterproof business laptop. It
can withstand drops, dust and high pressure, not to mention heavy water
sprays as well. Needless to say, this laptop targets army and military
personnel, emergency response units and so on.
This laptop is proven to withstand rain and wind up to 70 miles per
hour and amazing temperatures in the range of -20 to 145 degrees
Fahrenheit.
The LCD screen of this laptop is made in such a way as to slightly
“float” inside the cover. This is what protects it from most of the
shocks and damage. This rugged laptop also comes with a nice 3-year
warranty.
Other features include a 14.1” touchscreen display, Intel Core 2 Duo processor, USB ports, card reader and 6-cell battery.
The Dell E6400 XFR touchscreen laptop is priced at a rather steep
$4300 for the most basic configuration. Yet, we have to think it is
worth this price, as it is also practically indestructible.
